Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 14, 2026

Stone of Hope (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Stone of Hope mobile application and related web experience when available (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Service.

1. Two Ways to Use the Service

Local-only (default). You may use Stone of Hope without creating an account. In this mode, your content stays primarily on your device. We do not configure cloud services for your use until you choose to register for sync or sign in.

Cloud sync (optional). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we sync selected user-created data to our cloud backend so you can access it on your other devices signed into the same account.

2. Information We Collect

Account information (cloud sync only)

When you sign in, we receive information from your chosen provider, such as:

  • A unique account identifier assigned when you sign in
  • Sign-in method (Apple or Google)
  • Email address, if your provider shares it (Apple may not share an email)

We do not store a separate password for Apple or Google sign-in.

User content (cloud sync only)

If you use cloud sync, we store content you create in the app, including for example: notes, prayers, comments, tags, flashcards, reading progress, sermon notes, prayer day records, and metadata linked to that content (such as dates, tags, and scripture references).

Image notes: photo files may be stored in cloud file storage; image file paths and related note metadata may be stored in our database.

Not uploaded to your personal cloud account

To reduce data transfer and respect licensing, certain data stays on your device only, including: downloaded Bible translation text, on-demand verse cache, and church sermon imports marked as non–user-owned content. You may re-download or re-import these on a new device.

Device information (cloud sync only)

We store basic device registry information to support multi-device sync (for example: a per-install device identifier, device model string, and operating system version, and when that device last uploaded changes). This is not used for advertising.

What we do not collect

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the app to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use information only to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service, including optional cloud synchronization
  • Authenticate you and associate your data with your account
  • Register your devices for sync and reduce unnecessary data transfer between devices
  • Respond to support requests and fix technical problems
  • Comply with applicable law

4. Data Storage, Security, and Encryption

Where data is stored

When you use cloud sync, your data is processed and stored on secure third-party cloud infrastructure operated by established providers. Data is protected in transit (TLS) and access is limited by authentication and security rules so that, under normal operation, only you can read and write your account data while signed in.

Security measures

We use industry-standard protections for data in transit (TLS). Access to your cloud data is restricted by authentication and security rules so that, under normal operation, only you can read and write your account data while signed in.

Encryption (important)

For note and comment body text, we store encrypted content in the cloud (not plain text in the database). However, this is not end-to-end zero-knowledge encryption: encryption keys needed to decrypt your content are stored in your account’s cloud data and could be accessed by us using administrative tools if required for support or legal compliance.

Other fields (such as tags, titles, flashcard text, and similar metadata) and photo files in cloud storage are not encrypted by our application layer in the same way. You should not treat cloud sync as suitable for information you require to be hidden even from the service operator.

Local data

Data on your device is protected by your device’s operating system. Local-only use does not upload your content to our cloud backend.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following types of service providers solely to operate the Service:

ProviderPurpose
AppleSign in with Apple (when you choose it)
GoogleSign in with Google (when you choose it)
Cloud infrastructure providersAccount authentication, database, file storage, and sync (when you use cloud sync)

These providers process data according to their own privacy policies. We do not authorize them to use your personal information for their own marketing unrelated to providing infrastructure to us.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your cloud data while your account remains active and as needed to provide the Service.

You may request access, correction, or deletion of your account and associated cloud data by contacting us at support@stoneofhope.app. After verification, we will delete or anonymize your cloud account data within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention requirements.

Deleting the app from a device does not by itself delete cloud data if you previously signed in. Uninstalling also does not remove data that remains only on your device unless you erase the app’s local storage through your device settings.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with a new “Last Updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or by email where appropriate.
